Dear Sir:
Another Saturday and
another nightmare on Mozart Avenue. My house is directly across the street
from the Cardiff Elementary School. Now that the Encinitas soccer people
have taken over George Berkich Park, this is turning into a major problem.
This morning there are so many giant SUVs parked around the school, that one
would think it's an invasion!!
Since my front door is
less than fifty feet from where all this activity begins, I am unacceptably
impacted by all of this. The traffic, the noise, the trash which is casually
tossed into my yard, the "rude soccer moms" who yell at me when I ask
them not to block my driveway, and most of all, the major traffic hazard
that is created on San Elijo, all are cause of great concern to me.
Last Saturday (Nov. 30)
was particularly bad. It was truly a Saturday from hell. It was the
Thanksgiving weekend and the beginning of a new soccer program. Not even the
Cardiff Ice Cream Social creates this much traffic. My trash was out because
of delayed pickup, and I asked more than one driver not to block my trash
cans. One irate person in an oversized SUV (Suburban?) knocked over three of
the trash cans with green waste and spilled the contents all over the
street. As a result of this non-stop activity from before 8:00 in the
morning until nearly 5:00 in the afternoon, my trash was never picked up.
The soccer people seem oblivious to the fact that this is a residential area
and seem to have no consideration for the residents. The fact that they had
an amplified speaker (PA
System) last week and used it most of the day clearly points
this out.
I have already made
contact with the Superintendent of the Cardiff School District, but he is
leaving after the first of the year, so I will have to wait to talk to his
replacement. I will be calling next week for an appointment to talk to you
directly. I urge prompt action on this, as the traffic congestion on San
Elijo is very dangerous. Someone from the City should go out on Saturday morning
and take a look.
Sincerely,
Cardiff by the Sea, CA |
